Our History

Crown of Life Lutheran Church was started as a mission church of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod in 1998 when Pastor Rick Johnson was called as the resident missionary.  Corona at that time was one of the fastest growing communities in California as people migrated from the coastal communities of Orange County to find more affordable housing in the Inland Empire of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.  The California Mission Board had determined that such growth merited a mission start even though there was no known WELS members, to form a core group, living in Corona and even with the WELS churches in Yorba Linda and Riverside each about 12 miles away.

In 2003, Crown of Life began to move its musical style toward the contemporary end of the worship style spectrum while retaining traditional elements of Lutheran worship.  In 2004, the church started a second service featuring the traditional Lutheran service, now offering a choice of worship styles.  God blessed that decision.

In 2006, when we occupied our first building in Corona, we opened King’s Kids Learning Center, a school-age child care center for children K to 6.

On Easter Sunday 2009, we began every Sunday worship services in Beaumont at the Holiday Inn Express.  Our second site and 3rd service
began with 11 Crown of Life members who lived in the area but traveled each week to Corona for worship.  Today (2012) over 65 people call Crown of Life Beaumont their church home.

We have been blessed greatly by God.  We have two full-time staff on the church side and 6 part-time staff at King’s Kids.  King’s Kids offers child care for almost 70 families and over 90 children.
