Where Can I Serve?
On Maundy Thursday Jesus washed his disciples’ feet and then told them, “I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.” Jn 13:15-17 As Christians, we are called to service. Here are some ways that you can serve at Crown of Life. This list will be updated as opportunities to serve arise.
Greeters
A first time guest’s first impression of Crown of Life begins on the way in the door. So it is very important that we greet them with smiles, warm handshakes, answers to important questions such as “What do I do with my children?” and “Where is the restroom?” and “Where do I go when my baby cries?” We need friendly, people-people to do this. Our greeters work for about 20 minutes before the service and for the first 10 minutes after the service, seeking out and welcoming guests, answering questions like the ones above and inviting them to return. Is this you? It’s important. Talk with or email Mike Johnson.
Music & Tech
Many church members get involved in our worship ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. Still others get involved as techs. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of Crown of Life Lutheran Church, using their talents and gifts to glorify God.
Ushers
The usher team at Crown of Life Lutheran Church fills an important role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding traffic, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction, unlocking doors, locking doors, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The usher team is a group of men with servants’ hearts whose ministry is integral to church life.
Media & Technology
Using media to spread the gospel is part of who we are at Crown of Life Lutheran Church. In an age of widespread technology, it’s a matter of stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. All of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in video and audio formats. We also maintain an active Facebook and Twitter feed for additional church communication.
Prayer Chains
Jesus told us “Whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will give to you.” At Crown of Life Lutheran Church we trust what Jesus tells us. Throughout the week, volunteers on our prayer chains, pray for their pastor, a list of church members, any special requests, and missionary prayer needs. Request prayerss on Sunday mornings by using the Communication Card or by emailing prayers@crownoflifechurch.net.
Crown of Life Kids
In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, Crown of Life holds Crown of Life Kids in conjunction with the 9:30am Beaumont service and the 11am Corona service. This special time gives kids more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that is suited to their age and learning styles. Our friendly and loving King’s Kids volunteers have an endless stream of creativity–ranging from Bible stories, to games, to songs, to object lessons, to hands-on craft activities. And coming in early summer, our new classroom building will be open and waiting for your children. Crown of Life Kids also has a midweek session in connection with King’s Kids, our childcare center, on Tuesdays from 4-5pm.
Church Cleaners
Our building gets lots of use. It’s a child care center during the week where upwards of 50 kids, parents and little brothers and sisters come and go. It’s where our children’s ministry meets, where catechism class is held, where adult classes gather and where we worship our God. Church cleaning takes about an hour once a month on a Saturday and you work with others on a cleaning team. Please talk with or email Pastor Rick.
Camp Counselors
Each summer, Crown of Life hosts a youth camp called Camp Sonshine. The week-long event involves games, a lot of teaching, great field trips, good worship, and the intentional influence of camp counselors. The camp counselors are selected, screened, and trained for this important camp ministry. They find that their ministry is personally rewarding, and both campers and counselors grow in the process.
